About the race

In form driver Sebastian Vettel has already won four races in a row and overall he has won nine races in this season so far and looks that he is going to be the topper this year. He has a good 90-point lead over second placed Fernando Alonso from Ferrari. Vettel has 297 points and nine wins under his belt whereas Alonso has 207 points and has won just 2 races which clearly show the supremacy of Vettel in this season. Kimi Raikkonen from Lotus stands third at 177 points and Lewis Hamilton from Mercedes is at fourth position with 161 points and both with just 1 win each in this season.

Sebastian Vettel also has another big advantage in this circuit as he is the only racer who has won both the races held previously in 2011 and 2012. So he is well versed with the tracks and we can say that this would be one of the favorite tracks of Vettel and he would look to win this race as well and extend his lead over the other opponents and make the race counts to a double digit figure.

Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso who is at second position in the racer’s standings was also second in 2012 race and finished third in 2011. We can assume that Alonso would make full efforts to improve his record for this year and reduce the margin as much as he can. In fact we can say that Alonso is the only one, we believe, who can give tough competition to Vettel in this race and may even win the race looking at his record from the past two races here at Indian GP.

Mark Webber of Red Bull is another driver who has impressed in this circuit with third and fourth position finish in 2012 and 2011 respectively. He has not been in a very good from in this season as he is currently placed at fifth position with 148 points and not even a single win in this season. He would like to make a mark and would try his best to get some good fortune in this circuit and if he manages to win this race then it would do a world of good for him and his team.

Talking about the Constructors’ standings, for obvious reasons Red Bull continues to be at top position with score of 445 points and a massive lead of 148 points over the next team. Next is Ferrari with 297 points and is very close to the third placed Mercedes which has 287 points and is placed at third position. We can expect some competition between the two to take place where one would be trying to save the second position and the other (Mercedes) would be trying to reclaim the second post.

Our predictions

India and Indian Grand Prix is the latest to be added to the F1 calendar and there is always excitement when the race takes place at this circuit. We expect good turnout and some great racing to take place as there will be no race that would happen in 2014 and with the expectation that the same will return in 2015.

Sebastian Vettel clearly seems to be the favorite for this race as well with his current form and history on the Indian soil going clearly in his favour. However we do feel that Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton would like to spice up the race with their driving and could deliver a surprise.
