About the race

In form driver Sebastian Vettel has already won three races in a row and so he still leads the table and has in fact gained a good 53 points lead over Ferrari racer Fernando Alonso. Vettel now has 222 points under his belt with Alonso second at 169 points. The race for the second position is getting intense as the next three drivers are quite close with Lewis Hamilton at 141 points, Kimi Raikkonen at 134 and Red Bull’s Mark Webber at 130.

Vettel seems to be clear favourite to win this race as well as he has already won the last two races in Singapore and he would be aiming to win the third one as well and there is no reason why he should not be able to do so in this race. He was the winner last year and so he is well verse with the tracks of Singapore.

Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso is the only one who can give competition to Vettel as he has also won the Singapore race twice till now. He is also at second position which proves his capability but the fact that he has not been able to do well in the last couple of races is a big factor. But surely he would like to reverse his fortune by making a strong comeback in this race.

Mercedes has had a disappointing season and the team would be keen to make a comeback in this season. Lewis Hamilton is at third position but underperformed in the last race at Monza where he finished 12th which ultimately resulted in team Mercedes losing the second spot to Ferrari by a narrow margin of just 3 points.

Another highlight of the race would be Kimi Raikkonen as he has replaced Felipe Massa and this time e would be racing from Ferrari for the first time in this calendar year. Standing at fourth position he would also be eying a pole position to show what he is capable of.

Talking about the Constructors’ standings, Red Bull continues to be at top position with massive 352 points a lead of 104 points. Next is Ferrari with 248 points which has taken over Mercedes as the latter did not do well in the last race. Mercedes is at third with 245 points and it would like to put in all efforts to regain its second position.

Our predictions

The weather forecast is dry thought there are chances of slight showers during the day. Also this being a night race, it would be challenging for the drivers to race under lights and also adjust the timings as they have come from Europe to Asia which has a good time difference.

This race is also special in a way as this would be the first race for Pirelli’s super-soft tires since reverting back to the 2012 tire constructions in Hungary. This new mode may not pose a very big challenge for the teams but still it would be different.

Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel clearly seems to be the favorite for this race as well with the history of Singapore race and the form that he is in currently. However we do feel that Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton would like to spice up the race with their driving and could deliver a surprise, and we have therefore placed the following bets on f1:

Winners of the race (1st place finish)
Sebastian Vettel – 5.00
Lewis Hamilton – 21.00
Mark Webber – 81.00 and
Fernando Alonso – 251.00
(Odds from William Hill)
